Herath's name coming to the media is an embarrassment: Jalal Yunus

"His (Herath) name shouldn’t have come to the media. Because nothing has been finalised yet. It's embarrassing for not only the board but also for the candidate. You already know this and that shouldn't have happened," he said.

Several local and international media reported that former Sri Lanka spinner Rangana Herath was likely to replace Daniel Vettori as Bangladesh cricket team's spin bowling coach. Jalal Yunus, chairman of the media committee of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), said that Herath's name shouldn't have come to the media.

Yunus said that this is embarrassing for both the parties. "His (Herath) name shouldn't have come to the media. Because nothing has been finalised yet. It's embarrassing for not only the board but also for the candidate. You already know this and that shouldn't have happened," he said.

Jalal Yunus mentioned that there are many factors that must be considered before appointing someone. "You cannot hire someone before considering whether he would be able to adjust to the team and for how many days he would work. We are yet to decide whom we will appoint. As Daniel Vettori is not with the team, we are searching for one."

Yunus also stated that no player has officially sought break from any series. "We have a very busy schedule this year. So a cricketer can seek a break. I am not sure who sought break from which series. Yes, I have seen couple of names in the media. But no player has officially said anything about that," he said.

In addition, Jalal Yunus said, "The board president has already said that if anyone wants to take a leave, he can inform the board. But we haven't been contacted by anyone regarding this."
