Egyptian club sign oldest professional football player, 75-year-old Ezz El-Din

Egyptian third-tier club 6^th October hopes to enter the record books as they signed 75-year-old Ezz El-Din Bahader to play for them.

The club hopes that Guinness Book of World record recognizes Ezz El-Din, who broke the record of Israeli footballer Isaak Hayik.

Isaak got into the record books in 2017, when he signed for Israeli fourth division club Ironi or Yehuda at the age of 73.   

If he takes on the pitch, Ezz El-Din will replace him, and the Egypt Football Association (EFA) is eager to put his name in the record books.

"Today, the Egyptian Football Association has registered the oldest professional player in the world during the current winter transfer period. He is 75-year-old Ezz El-Din Bahader, who signed for 6 October in the third division," the EFA wrote in a post on Facebook on Tuesday.

"He is preparing to enter the Guinness World Encyclopaedia of records as he begins his participation with his club."

However, details of Bahader's contract with 6th October haven't been published and his footballing background is also unclear.

52-year-old Japanese striker, Kazuyoshi Miura is widely accepted as the oldest current professional player and recently signed a contract extension with J-League club Yokohama FC.

Interestingly, Mauricio Baldivieso is considered to be the youngest ever professional footballer when he played in Bolivia's first division at the age of 12.

Appearing for La Paz FC, Baldivieso was subbed on by his manager, who was also his father, late on in a game in 2009.
