‘The decision from the players will help our cricket’

In one of the most momentous days in the history of Bangladesh cricket, the Bangladesh cricketers have taken the decision to not play any further cricket until their 11-point demands are met.

The demands which range from increasing the wages of players to allowing better facilities in training all focus on the betterment of Bangladesh cricket.

Nazmul Abedeen Fahim, former National game development manager and current senior coach of BKSP expressed how the lack of action from the board forced players into taking such drastic measure.

"It's disappointing that the players had to take action instead of the organisers. Their demands show that the board needs to act fast and promptly," Nazmul explained. 

Nazmul however also added that he was happy that the players decided to take this step and he believes that this should help Bangladesh cricket in the long term.

"The way the players spoke about the different issues, it shows that the players are concerned about not just their own well-being, but the future of Bangladesh Cricket. It's a positive step in the right direction from the players and it hopefully leads to a positive result," Nazmul concluded. 

On the other hand, Bangladesh batsman Tushar Imran, who is currently playing in the National Cricket League (NCL) was not surprised that such a decision was taken by the players. 

Although he was not present with the other players that game the 11-point demands as he was out of Dhaka, he expected such a thing to happen. 

"It was meant to happen as we already saw Shakib (Al Hasan) speak to the media about the problems that the players have been having and that the board should take action," Tushar said.

Tushar believes one of the reasons the players decided to take action was because the cricketers' welfare body, Cricketers' Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) "was not involved enough." 

With the upcoming tour of India and the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) uncertain after this, Tushar believes that both should happen has planned and the BCB should be able to meet the demands "within a few days."

"The next round of the NCL might not happen on time," Tushar added.
