Ctg Abahani eliminate Brothers Union

Both Bashundhara Kings and Chattogram Abahani Ltd reached the quarterfinals from Group B. The third team of the group, Brothers Union, were knocked out.

Chattogram Abahani Limited eliminated Brothers Union Club Limited from the ongoing TVS 31st Federation Cup Football Tournament. In a Group B match, They beat Brothers by 2-0 at Bangabandhu National Stadium on Sunday.

After the match, both the Bashundhara Kings and Chattogram Abahani Ltd reached the quarterfinals from Group B. The third team of the group, Gopibagh outfit Brothers Union, were knocked out.

Earlier in the group opener, Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) champions and Federation Cup runners-up Bashundhara Kings beat Brothers Union Club by 1-0 goal at the same venue on last Thursday.

Kings will play their last group match against Ctg Abahani on Friday (December 27) at 3:30 pm to decide the group champions.

In the day's match, Brazilian forward Nixon Guilherme and Nigerian midfielder Idenyi Chinedu Matthew scored one goal each for Ctg Abahani.

Nixon put Abahani ahead in the 34th minute by tapping the ball home from close (1-0). Ctg Abahani continued their domination over Brothers Union from the beginning of the second half.

In the 82nd minute, Matthew doubled the margin for the blue pirates by a powerful left-footed close-range shot (2-0).

On Tuesday, Muktijoddha SKC will play against Uttar Baridhara SC at 3:30 pm while Dhaka Mohammedan will play against Sheikh Russel KC at 6:15 pm.
