When asked if Portugal would lift the trophy, Ronaldo paused for a moment before saying: "Yes".

Cristiano Ronaldo was asked a difficult question about the 2026 World Cup during a recent lie detector test.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner, who currently plays his football for Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr, sat down with a professional polygraph examiner for a recent video with cryptocurrency exchange company Binance.

In the test, he will discuss a number of topics regarding his glittering career at Manchester United and Real Madrid, along with his contributions to the Portugal national team, according to Binance content creator Tineoysidro7.

But despite winning almost everything the game has to offer, the World Cup trophy is the one accolade that evades the Portuguese superstar.

And during the test, Binance were keen to know if Ronaldo thought his country would win the 2026 World Cup, with the 38-year-old widely expected to miss out on the tournament. You can watch the footage below.

When asked if Portugal would lift the trophy, Ronaldo paused for a moment before saying: "Yes". However, the results suggested he was in fact lying. Ronaldo then cracked a smile and said: "What a pessimist, huh?"

Although the 2026 World Cup may be a bridge too far for Ronaldo, he may have his sights set on the 2024 European Championships.

Roberto Martinez has called him up for this weeks' round of Euro 2024 qualifying matches and he clearly remains a key part of the teams' plans moving forward.

Another interesting question was if Ronaldo would swap all his Champions League medals for the World Cup.

His answer was "no", which the lie detector agreed with as the truth.
