Mushfiqur Rahim believes that the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is one of the best local Twenty20 leagues in the world after the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The Khulna Tigers captain was full of praise for the tournament and explained that the tournament was very beneficial for the local cricketers.

"I think the standard of cricket in the BPL is very good. It's one of the best in the world after the IPL. Lots of big cricketers come here to play. Players who are consistent and world-class and that helps our local cricketers greatly," Mushfiq said at the post-match press conference in Mirpur.

Mushfiq also admitted that there wasn't too much pressure on him but the quick dismissals of set batsmen Rilee Rossouw and Shamsur Rahman hurt the teams chase.

"When I came on to bat, I had a set batsman (Shamsur Rahman) at the other end and the asking rate wasn't too high either. If Shamsur or Rilee could have stayed till the 18th-19th over, the chase would have been possible and it would have been easier for the new batsmen like me, coming in," Mushfiq added.

The wicketkeeper-batsman never won the BPL trophy and this was his first final: "I think we were unlucky because our set batsmen got out in quick succession. So from that perspective, I have to say it feels bad because we reached the final but we couldn't win."
