Tigers' Sri Lanka tour has been postponed indefinitely. The Bangladesh cricket team does not have an international schedule before January. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has therefore focused on domestic cricket. Although the regular Dhaka Premier League, National League, or Bangladesh Cricket League could not be started, the BCB has organized a one-day tournament as part of the process of bringing the cricketers back to cricket.
The three-team BCB President's Cup will begin on Sunday. Competitive cricket is finally returning to the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium with the match between Mahmudullah XI and Nazmul XI starting at 1.30 pm tomorrow. No competitive match has been played in Mirpur since March 16 due to coronavirus.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is trying to make the tournament as attractive as it can despite the competition not being a regular one. An opening ceremony will also take place before the start of the match. Nazmul Hassan Papon, the BCB president will inaugurate the tournament by releasing balloons and pigeons. The trophy and the jerseys were unveiled on Saturday in presence of the skippers of the three teams.
The matches of the group stage will be streamed live on Facebook. The final of the tournament will be televised.
BCB is going to spend about BDT 36.75 lakhs in the tournament. The champion team of the tournament will be awarded prize money of BDT 15 lakhs while the team coming second will get BDT 7.5 lakhs. Apart from that, the best batsman, bowler and fielder of the tournament will be rewarded handsomely.
The man of the match will get BDT 50 thousand while the best batsman, bowler, and fielder of each match will be given BD 25,000. The prize for the best player in the final is BDT 1 lakh. The best player of the series will get BDT 2 lakh. The best batsman, bowler, and fielder of the series will get BDT 1 lakh each.
Each team will play two matches against each other in the round-robin format. A total of 6 matches will be held in the league. The best two teams will play the final. The final will be held on October 23. Each match will have a reserve day.
