BCB should have reacted better to Shakib, says Lipu 

Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) decision to issue a show-cause notice to Shakib Al Hasan might be a reaction to his role in the recently ended player's strike. 

Former national cricket team captain Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu, thinks that the strike might have affected the reaction of the board towards him but also said that the BCB officials should not have reacted in the manner they did.

"It (the players' strike) surely has affected a bit. The way BCB reacted to the strike could have been avoided and would have been better that way," he said.

Shakib recently signed a deal with a local telecom company and according to BCB, it breached his central contract with them. BCB was supposed to take legal action against but abstained from it as the matter was considered an internal one.

However, Lipu expects the matter to resolve internally once Shakib explains his actions.

"BCB has asked him to show cause, this is completely an internal matter and the rumor that are currently circulating around the matter are uncalled for. He will answer to the show cause and his contract with the telecom company will be terminated, that is how I think that the matter will be solved," expects Lipu.

Meanwhile, BCB president Nazmul Hassan said in an interview with a daily that there might be more players besides Tamim Iqbal and Saifuddin who will not travel to India.

Also, the BCB president said that Bangladesh would win their Test against Afghanistan even with the U-19 team but still they managed to lose. He also put up a question of why Shakib tagged the wicket as poor when he was the one who selected the pitch for the match. 

Nazmul also added that he had set up a probe committee to find out what happened during the Afghanistan Test and the tri-series later.

However, the Bangladesh cricket team and the Board would hope to settle things down as the India tour is less than a week away. The first T20 match of the series against India is on the third of November at Delhi, with the next T20Is scheduled for seventh and 10th November.
