BCB grants Shakib paternity leave, will miss NZ tour

Bangladesh cricket team will be touring New Zealand later this month to play three ODIs and three T20Is. They will have to be without their best weapon, Shakib Al Hasan, who has asked for paternity leave during the tour as the all-rounder and his wife are expecting the birth of their third child.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has granted his request to skip the tour. Akram Khan, chairman of the BCB's cricket operations, confirmed the matter on Thursday.
"He is not going. He wanted to be with his family. We had a discussion today with the board president and decided to grant the leave." said Akram.
The star cricketer became a father for the second time in April 2020. Shakib, at that time, was serving a one-year ban imposed on him by the ICC. He made a stellar comeback into international cricket and bagged a man of the series award against the Windies.
The BCB informed on Monday that Shakib wouldn't take further part in the series as he is yet to recover from the thigh strain that he suffered in the first Test against the Windies.
