BCB to find a new team for proposed tri-series
In the last ICC meeting, the world governing body decided to suspend Zimbabwe.
As the International Cricket Council (ICC) has suspended Zimbabwe for government’s interference in the cricket board, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is set to look for a new team for the proposed tri-series in September also involving Afghanistan.
In the last ICC meeting, the world governing body decided to suspend Zimbabwe. In the current circumstances, the BCB has to find a new team.
“Since, Zimbabwe are suspended now, we’re looking for a new team to be included in the tri-series,” cricket operation chairman of BCB Akram Khan told the media on Thursday.
“As per the latest development, I’ll have to be arranged the series without Zimbabwe. We had proposed the series before their suspension by the ICC. We’ll try to add another team, but it’s not clear who are free to take part in that series,” Akram further said.
He, however, did not disclose anything about who could be the third team to participate in the tri-series.
Afghanistan are supposed to tour Bangladesh for a Test and two T20I matches. The BCB had decided to add Zimbabwe to that T20I series.
