BCB explains why 'Bangladesh' was missing from new ODI jersey at first

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had on Sunday announced that a special jersey would be made for the Tigers for the upcoming ODI series against Windies.

The players will don jerseys which will resemble the national flag in celebration of 50 years of independence and the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The red disc, which represents the sun in the flag, will also be there in the jersey and it will also depict the joy of freedom fighters after the victory as well as the national memorial.

But when the picture of the new jersey made the rounds in social media, people saw one very important aspect missing - the name of the team and country - Bangladesh.

A few hours later, facing the initial wave of criticism, BCB sent another, updated version of the jersey with Bangladesh written as well. 

BCB's media committee chairman Jalal Yunus explained the reason for the initial omission of the team's name. 

"What had happened with the first picture of the new jersey was probably done by mistake. There were two jerseys being worked on and one of them  The jersey will obviously have the team's name on it," Jalal explained. 

 There is still some qualms among fans with regards to the size of the team name's font and it being smaller than the name of the sponsor's name and Jalal was also asked about possibly making the name bigger. 

"ICC have protocols for font sizes and how big the name can be. We will obviously look into the matter and see if it can be made bigger," he concluded.
