The defender who plays for Bashundhara Kings confirmed the news to the media on Wednesday and as a result, he won't be taking part in the national team's camp.

Bangladesh national team footballer Bishwanath Ghosh and his wife Chaity Ghosh have both tested positive for Covid-19.

The defender who plays for Bashundhara Kings confirmed the news to the media on Wednesday and as a result, he won't be taking part in the national team's camp.

"Before the training camp, which has started from today (Wednesday), we all had to get tested for coronavirus on August 3 and the report came out yesterday," Bishwanath said.

The 21-year-old has so far made 23 appearances for the Bangladesh national team and under-23 side.

The former Sheikh Russel player made his senior team debut against Bhutan on September 4, 2018 in the Saff Championship.

Ahead of the remaining four matches of the 2022 World Cup and Asian Cup qualifiers, a camp involving the players who have been called up to the preliminary team is supposed to begin in Gazipur from Wednesday. Though 36 players were selected initially, the camp is set to begin with 31 involved. Now that Biswanath has tested positive for Covid-19, the number has come down to 30.

11 footballers have been told to join the camp on Wednesday. 12 of them will join on Thursday and the rest of them will join on Friday. Before joining the residential camp, footballers have been instructed to undergo Covid-19 test once on their own and after that BFF will arrange another round of screening. Players whose results come out negative will be eligible to join the camp.
