Bangladesh have beaten Sri Lanka 3-0 in their second match of the group stage of the Bangabandhu Gold Cup Football 2020 to ensure their place in the semifinals.

Motin Mia struck twice and Mohammad Ibrahim was on target to secure Bangladesh's first points in the tournament.

Bangladesh started off their Gold Cup campaign with a 2-0 loss against Palestine but managed to return to winning ways in their clinical win against their South Asian opponents.

In a game dominated by Bangladesh, Motin struck in the 17th minute to hand Bangladesh the lead and the score stayed the same till the end of the first half. Motin struck again in the 64th minute before Ibrahim sealed the game in the 83rd minute.

The only down point for Bangladesh in the game came at the dying moments as defender Topu Barman was sent off in the 90th minute for his second yellow card which means he will be missing Bangladesh's semi-final clash.

Bangladesh are likely to face Burundi in the semifinal as the African side have ended the group stage as the group champions of Group B.
