Bangladesh-Afghanistan World Cup qualifier suspended due to coronavirus

Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) announced today that the match, which will also be a qualifier for the Asian Cup, has been suspended on orders from Fifa and the AFC.

The Fifa World Cup qualifier between Bangladesh and Afghanistan on March 26 has been suspended due to the worldwide Coronavirus outbreak.

Three people in Bangladesh were diagnosed with the illness yesterday and that has put into a spanner a number of sports events.

Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) announced today that the match, which will also be a qualifier for the Asian Cup, has been suspended on orders from Fifa and the AFC.

The other Group E match between India and Qatar, also on March 26 has been suspended too as all the matches in March and June have been suspended indefinitely.

Bangladesh were set to face Qatar in Doha on March 31 but that has also been suspended and BFF's general secretary Abu Nayeem said: "The orders have come from AFC and they have suspended all the matches till June. The away match against Qatar could also be suspended."
