All members of Windies contingent test Covid negative

After reaching Dhaka on Monday, all members of the West Indies team had to take part in a Covid test and the test results have all come out as negative on Tuesday.

A 38-member West Indies team reached Dhaka on Sunday morning for a month-long tour. 

After their arrival, members of the West Indies team were taken to the team hotel where they underwent coronavirus tests on the first day of their three-day isolation. 

"All members of the West Indies contingent have tested negative for Covid-19 on arrival into Bangladesh," informed Dario Barthley, media manager of the West Indies Cricket Team to The Business Standard (TBS) on Tuesday. 

After completing the three-day isolation and before being allowed in the nets at the Academy Ground of the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on the fourth day, the visitors will have to clear another Covid-19 test. The samples will be collected on the third day of quarantine. During those four days, the West Indies side can practise only among themselves.

After undergoing three tests in seven days since their arrival, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will provide net bowlers and the visitors will be able to interact with others. The West Indies team is also scheduled to play a one-day warm-up game at BKSP Ground 3 on January 18.

West Indies have reached Dhaka at the back of a Covid-19 issue in the team after fast bowling all-rounder Romario Shepherd got tested positive for the virus. Romario was replaced with Keon Harding in the one-day squad for West Indies.

The three-match ODI series will begin from January 20 and the first of the two Tests will be played on February 3.
