Quarantine food taster

Kanta is not a person who enjoys being at home, especially when her entire family is there. Nonetheless, this quarantine has not left any other option for Kanta rather than being locked up at home.

So, she works all day, eats, watches Netflix, sleeps and repeats. However, this timed schedule cannot save her from attracting weirdness even during quarantine. As a result, Kanta's sister comes up with a weird recipe idea.

Cooking is, by default, a weird fun-time activity for a person who has never cooked in her entire life - and that is Kanta's sister. She has not stopped just by deciding to cook, but has made Kanta the judge of her cooking. "Look Kanta, I am going to cook something. I feel like cooking today. And you are going to be my only guest. Okay?" she said.

Kanta burps once, looks at her sister with round eyes, and chooses not to answer anything because this might be one of those impulsive decisions due to her sister's mood swings. But her sister's grand preparation for cooking has started to make Kanta believe that her sister is very serious about this mission.
One thing Kanta is unable to understand is why has her sister chosen Kanta as the judge? Then Kanta realized that she does not complain about food. She eats whatever is served on her plate silently as she cannot and does not want to cook for herself, or anyone.

Kanta is paying for her silence. But she hopes for the best and asks her sister, "What are you going to cook?"

With a smile, she replied, "Look, I am not going to cook something really difficult. I am cooking for the first time so I will make something simple. I will cook egg curry with potatoes."

Kanta takes a deep breath and hopes that things are going to be simple.

It is not Kanta's lunch time yet, but her sister is pestering her to have lunch, or more likely to taste her cooking.

Kanta finally starts towards the dining room with a fast beating heart to taste her sister's cooking and to save her own energy. She looks in the bowl of curry and a pale looking egg curry stares back at her. Kanta tells herself, "Okay Kanta! Let's not judge a curry by its look." She gathers courage and spoons some rice, an egg and two pieces of potatoes on her plate.

Her sister is standing in front of her, intently staring at her with hopeful eyes. Kanta smiles and sprinkles some salt over the rice. First, she tries to mash the potatoes with the rice, but the potatoes seem to resist. Kanta puts more force on the potatoes but the adamant potatoes do not budge.

Kanta looks at her sister, smiling nervously, and decides to give the potatoes a good squeeze. So she takes the potatoes in her fist and puts all her strength in breaking the potatoes. But one piece of potato slips out from her fist and lands somewhere on the floor. Kanta apologizes to her sister and takes the other piece.

This time she does not squeeze it. Rather, she lays the potato on the plate and puts all her strength on it. The rice and egg on her plate spread everywhere and spill over the plate, but the potato remains intact.

Kanta looks at her sister's sad face and solemnly mumbles, "I am sorry but I am sure it tastes really good. Let me try some." She takes a bite out of the potato and swallows silently.

Now that you know of this incident, swallow the information just like Kanta swallowed the potato and do not let her sister know that this story has been published in the newspaper.
