Nolan's The Odyssey set to take over Star Cineplex
Academy Award-winning filmmaker Christopher Nolan is set to return to Bangladeshi screens with his highly anticipated blockbuster, The Odyssey. The mythic action epic is officially scheduled to premiere at Star Cineplex branches across Dhaka this July, bringing one of Western literature's oldest foundational tales to local audiences in spectacular fashion.
Following the massive global and local success of his Oscar-winning biopic Oppenheimer, Nolan's latest venture pivots to ancient Greek mythology. The film adapts Homer's timeless epic poem, tracking the perilous, decade-long journey of Odysseus, the King of Ithaca, as he struggles to return home after the fall of Troy.
Clocking in at 2 hours and 52 minutes, the production marks a major technological milestone as the first major studio film shot entirely using high-resolution IMAX cameras. To bring this vision to life, Nolan reunited with his elite technical team, including cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema and composer Ludwig Göransson.
The film boasts a star-studded ensemble cast led by Matt Damon in the titular role of Odysseus. The project features an impressive lineup including Tom Holland as Telemachus, Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Zendaya as the goddess Athena, and Robert Pattinson as the villainous suitor Antinous, alongside Lupita Nyong'o and Charlize Theron.
The film also marks a highly anticipated reunion between Nolan and Elliot Page for the first time since 2010's Inception. Star Cineplex officials have noted immense excitement among local cinephiles, with advance ticket sales expected to face high demand. Moviegoers are advised to check the official Star Cineplex platforms for exact showtimes, premium IMAX viewing options, and ticket availability.
