GTA 6 to launch at $79, physical copies will ship without a disc
Grand Theft Auto 6 will cost $79.99 for the standard edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition when it launches on 19 November for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, Rockstar Games has confirmed. In the UK, the game is priced at £69.99 and £89.99 respectively.
Pre-orders opened worldwide this week, but one detail has drawn sharp criticism: physical copies will not include a disc. Boxed editions will instead contain a download code, with pre-loading available from 12 November. Rockstar has not publicly explained the decision, though analysts suggest it may help prevent leaks and limit the resale market.
The Ultimate Edition includes exclusive vehicles, weapons, outfits and access to in-game shops unavailable in the standard version.
GTA 6, which features the franchise's first playable female protagonist in a 3D title, Lucia, alongside Jason, has been in development since at least 2022 and suffered multiple delays following a major leak.
At $10 above the current AAA standard, the pricing is expected to embolden other publishers to raise their own prices for blockbuster releases.
