The film industry of the country halted shooting at the end of March last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. No new film was released for six months in a row. Major festivals like two Eids and Pahela Baishakh passed without any film release. Now, the time has come for another Eid. Baishakh is also coming.

Keeping these upcoming festivals in mind, the shooting of some of the films that was halted last year has been restarted with full enthusiasm. Some films are awaiting release as their shooting is already done. Producers are looking forward to compensating for the loss that they incurred due to the pandemic.

More than 25 films are ready for release and more than 50 films have started shooting after the Covid-19 situation improved in the country.

Films that are waiting to be released after finishing shooting and post-production are- Mission Extreme 1, Shan, Bidrohi, Mon Debo Mon Nebo, Sphulingo, Deen- the Day, Mission Extreme 2, Ittefaq, Ananda Asru, Nodir Buke Chad, Psycho, Shonibar

Bikel, Ustad, Paap-Punya, Agamikal, Adom, Secret Agent, Dangerman, Swapnabaji, Dhaka 2040, Bikkov, Manuser Bagan, Peyarar Shubash, Commando, Opare Chandrabati, Basanta Bikel, Shahoshi Joddha, and Padma Purana.

The producers of Mission Extreme thought to release the film after reopening cinema halls last year when the Covid-19 situation got a bit normal. But the decision was cancelled later.

Sunny Sanwar, one of the producers and directors of the film, said, "The situation is still not that normal for the audience to go to cinema halls. So, we want to release the movie on Eid-ul-Fitr."

Robin Khan, director of Mon Debo Mon Nebo, said, "Even if the situation is normal, it will take time for people to regain confidence. We have to be ready for Eid in this uncertainty."

The shooting of Kanamachi was scheduled to start on 15 March last year in Nepal. That was cancelled later. The director of the film, Anjan Aich, said, "The shooting was done in Cox's Bazar, and Bandarban, instead of Nepal. If we shoot for another three or four days in Dhaka, the preproduction will be done. The film stars Emon and Suchana Azad in the lead roles."

Meanwhile, the shooting of Naeem Imtiaz Neyamul's films Gangchil and Jam was halted due to Covid-19. Work on the two films has recently started. The shooting of Raihan Rafi's Swapnabaji and Ittefaq was also halted.

However, along with these two films, Rafi has started another film titled Damal. The film is based on the glorious story of the historic Shadhin Bangla Football Team, a football team that represents independent Bangladesh during the liberation war in 1971. Most of the shooting of the film has already been completed. Only the shooting of the football match scenes is still to be shot. However, Rafi is preparing for another new film.

Meanwhile, the shooting of the two films of Saikat Nasir titled Casino and Akbar has also ended. Now, the films are awaiting release. The director is planning to release the films on the coming Eid.

The teaser of Dipankar Dipan's Operation Sundarbans has already been released. The director has announced that he will release the film on Eid-ul-Fitr.

"We were stuck for about eight months because of Covid-19. We restarted the shooting later and finished the work. Now the dubbing of the film is going on. That too will end quickly. Then we will submit it to the sensor," said Dipankar Dipan.

The shooting of Sarah Begum Kabori's Ei Tumi Sei Tumi started before the Covid-19 pandemic. The shooting has restarted recently after being halted due to the pandemic last year.

The shooting of Adventure of Sundarbans started in March last year. It was halted later in April. Raihan Jewel, The director of the film, said that the rest of the shooting was done in Dhaka last September. Now the dubbing is going on.

Producer Tapu Khan is going to start a film Leader- Ami Bangladesh with superstar Shakib Khan. The producer said that they will start working on the film very soon.

However, Shapla Media has taken an initiative to make 100 films. Of these, works on 10 films have started.
