Fast Forever: Final Fast & Furious film gets official title and date
'Fast & Furious 11' is officially on the road. Universal Pictures has confirmed that the next instalment in the long-running franchise will be titled 'Fast Forever', with a theatrical release set for 17 March 2028. The announcement finally puts a date on the long-delayed sequel, which had remained in development limbo for several years.
The film was previously known as 'Fast X: Part Two', following 2023's 'Fast X', but faced major delays due to the absence of a finished script, unresolved cast negotiations and concerns over ballooning costs. Reports suggested the script in circulation would require a budget of around $250 million, prompting the studio to demand significant cuts before giving the project the green light.
Those challenges, combined with the relatively modest box office performance of Fast X — which earned $705 million worldwide, the franchise's lowest total in over a decade — pushed the sequel well beyond its original 2025 release plan.
Vin Diesel has positioned Fast Forever as a return to the series' roots, citing a renewed focus on Los Angeles, street racing and car culture. He has also spoken publicly about reuniting Dominic Toretto with Brian O'Conner, the character famously played by the late Paul Walker, raising questions about how the film might approach the character's return.
Jason Momoa is expected to reprise his role as Dante, the villain introduced in Fast X, while speculation continues around whether Dwayne Johnson will rejoin the franchise after years of public tension with Diesel.
With its title signalling finality, Fast Forever is shaping up to be both a conclusion and a legacy statement for one of cinema's most enduring action series.
