DU revives the spirit of autumn
Teachers and students from various departments of Dhaka University (DU) came together on 16 October to celebrate Autumn Festival 1432 at Bakultala, under the Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA).
The event was decorated with symbolic white heron, white cloud and 'kashful' identical to the thematic characters of the autumn session.It featured discussions, an art camp, and vibrant performances of music, dance, and poetry recitations.
Paintings and artworks, depicting the beauty of autumn season, were displayed at the premises.

The festivities began with a chorus rendition of 'Aji Dhaner Khete' by students of the Department of Music, followed by performances from the Departments of Theatre and Performance Studies, Dance, and various residential halls. Alumni and guest artists also joined an open-air art camp.
DUCSU Literary and Cultural Affairs Secretary Mosaddeq Ali Ibn Mohammad said, "As I had committed when taking this position, my first goal was to ensure inclusive participation in literary and cultural activities, and my second was to universalise the culture rooted in our land and agriculture. In continuation of that, we are delighted to celebrate the Autumn Festival for the first time in Dhaka University's history".
Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Saima Haque Bidisha admired the festival's folk-inspired visuals, saying, "We can feel a beautiful atmosphere of folk literature and Bengali culture here". She added that events like this "strengthen human relationships" and revive our culture's timeless message of harmony.
The Autumn Festival, long celebrated by the Satyen Sen Shilpigoshthi, returned this year under DU's own banner — marking a vibrant comeback for a beloved campus tradition.
