Clair Obscur dominates BAFTA games awards nominations list

'Clair Obscur: Expedition 33' has emerged as the clear frontrunner at this year's BAFTA Games Awards, securing an impressive 12 nominations ahead of the ceremony on 17 April.

Developed by Sandfall Interactive and published by Kepler Interactive, the critically acclaimed role-playing adventure is nominated in major categories including Best Game, Best Music and Best Narrative. The strong showing continues the game's remarkable momentum after already picking up several awards earlier in the season. Despite its dominance, Expedition 33's nomination tally does not break the BAFTA record. That honour still belongs to 'God of War Ragnarök', which received 14 nominations in 2023 before losing the Best Game prize to indie sensation 'Vampire Survivors'.

Several other titles will compete for the top award this year. Superhero workplace comedy Dispatch earned nine nominations, while PlayStation adventure Ghost of Yōtei and the critically praised Blue Prince are also among the Best Game contenders. 'Indiana Jones and the Great Circle' also appears in the category, despite first being released in December 2024. The title remains eligible under the awards' timeframe and picked up six nominations overall. Elsewhere, blockbuster sequel 'Death Stranding 2', directed by Hideo Kojima, secured seven nominations despite missing out on the Best Game shortlist.

The BAFTA Games Awards celebrate excellence across the global games industry, recognising both major studio productions and innovative independent projects. Winners will be announced at the ceremony in April.
