I woke up from my sleep with a jolt

That evening, I was at a friend's place for a long adda. We were talking and having tea. But my stomach was growling for real food. After grumbling about, "where is the food?" repeatedly, my friend brought in "healthy" food: peanuts in green chilies, onions and oil. A heap of it.

I was so hungry that I took a spoonful and started gobbling up the peanut mix. Oh my! The chili is so hot that my tongue was burning and my nose sweating.

"You may add some naga morich (very strong Jalapeno) to it," said one of my friends who was a chili enthusiast.

"No need!" I said, with snot drooping from my nose, "it's already hot enough!"

After taking one spoonful of hot peanuts, my friend agreed, "yeah! This tastes great!"

Great or not. I was hungry and I needed to eat something. Hunger always wins.

I filled my stomach with that hot peanut mix. It was followed by a light dinner—as I was already full.

My other friends warned me of dire consequences in the toilet next morning. "Nothing will happen to me," I said, posing as a chili enthusiast myself, "it's just green chilies. What can go wrong?"

When I started for home, my tongue was still numb from the burning sensation of green chilies. I reached home at 10 pm and my three dogs jumped up my lap, one after another, joyous at seeing me back from the jungle.

My three dogs are all super lame. The big one is Boo- who is half the size of a street dog. He is overtly attached to me. The smallest one in size is Bubbles—a cacophonous female who riles up the whole area with her barking. And the medium one is

Patches- who was born to Bubbles and Boo five years ago. Patches still looks and feels like a puppy and she is scared of everything.

Anyway, after some cuddling with my doggos, I fell into deep sleep.

At some point during my sleep, I was having this dream. Some aliens had landed and they were armed with gadgets and weapons. They had taken my dogs and I was out to rescue them. I saw Patches coming to me, and I know Patches had undergone some alien experiment. As Patches came towards me, she suddenly spoke in clear English, "Hi!"

I woke up from my sleep with a jolt. While this is not the strangest dream that I ever had, I had to ask myself why was I having such a weird dream.

I had the answer when I sat in the toilet early in the morning. I should not have had so many chilies last night.
