Amar Bhashar Cholochitro 1432 kicks off tomorrow
The 24th edition of 'Amar Bhashar Cholochitro 1432' commences tomorrow, 3 February, at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) of Dhaka University. Organised by the Dhaka University Film Society (DUFS), the six-day event commemorates the Language Movement by showcasing the heritage of Bengali cinema.
The festival, which runs until 8 February, features a curated programme of 19 feature films and three short films. Organisers aim to reconnect contemporary audiences with the traditional "big screen" experience, moving away from modern digital consumption to celebrate the era of hand-painted posters and classic storytelling.
The event officially opens tomorrow evening at 6:30 pm with a screening of Ekhane Rajnoitik Alap Joruri, directed by Ahmed Hasan Sunny. Subsequent days will feature four daily screening slots starting from 10:00 am. The diverse lineup includes historical classics like Roopban and Beder Meyey Josna, alongside modern works such as Rayhan Rafi's Tandob and Tanim Noor's hit film 'Utshob'.
The festival concludes on Saturday with the Kolkata-based production The Academy of Fine Arts. Tickets are available at the TSC premises for all scheduled sessions.
