Turkey sends tents for Rohingyas in Cox’s Bazar

The Turkish government has sent 20 tons of tents for a Rohingya Camp field hospital in Cox's Bazar, which was damaged by the recent incident of fire.

Carrying the aid for displaced Rohingyas taking shelter in Bangladesh, a Turkish air force plane arrived at the Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram around 2:15pm on Saturday.

These tents will be utilised at the Turkish field hospital located in the Rohingya Camp, the airport's Manager Wing Commander Farhad Hossain Khan told The Business Standard.

The C-130 aircraft will leave Chattogram on Sunday.

On 23 March, a devastating fire broke out at Rohingya Camp 8-E and 8-W in Ukhiya's Balukhali area, later spreading to Camp 9 and 10 too.

At least 15 people lost their lives during the fire, and more than 10,000 Rohingya huts burned to the ground – along with various local and foreign NGO offices and police barracks.
