Rohingya man dies, 2 hurt in landmine explosion near Ghumdhum border

A Rohingya man was killed and two others injured in a landmine explosion along the Bangladesh-Myanmar border on Thursday.
The deceased is identified as Hamid Hossain, 31, of Ukhiya's Kutupalong Rohingya Refugee camp.
Local people said that they heard a loud explosion on Thursday evening at the border village of Ghumdhum in Naikhongchhari upazila.
Hamid's body parts are found scattered near pillar No 39 when they went to the scene. Two other people identified as Habib Ullah and Jewel Haque, of Kutupalong Rohingya Refugee camp, sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment at MSF Hospital in Kutupalong.
Sources said Myanmar's security forces planted landmines along its border with Bangladesh to stop Rohingyas from crossing the border.
Emon Chowdhury, in-charge of Ghumdhum Police Investigation Centre, said, "We have heard of the incident, it is being investigated."
On condition of anonymity, an official of BGB 34 Battalion in Cox's Bazar said the landmine explosion occurred within about 200-300 yards on the Myanmar side of the border.
Hamid's body has been kept at Kutupalong camp, said Mohammad Rafiq, an official of the camp.
