Foreign Minister seeks Indian support to resolve Rohingya crisis

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has sought cooperation of India to take steps for mounting strong pressure on Myanmar to resolve the Rohingya crisis.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has set a unique example in terms of humanity before the world for giving shelters to the forcefully displaced Rohingyas in Bangladesh. We need strong support on the Rohingya issue from India to ensure that they (Myanmar) will take back the Rohingyas in a dignified manner from our country," he said in the India-Bangladesh Friendship Dialogue.

He made the call while addressing the concluding session of the India-Bangladesh Friendship Dialogue as the chief guest in a city hotel of of Cox's Bazar on November 2.

Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Muhammad Faruk Khan presided over the concluding ceremony.

The ceremony was attended, among others, by Member of Parliament of Rajya Sabha(India) M J Akbar and Bangladeshi lawmakers Nahim Razzaq and Asheq Ullah Rafiq.

The ninth round of the Dialogue began in the resort town of Cox's Bazar on Friday, aiming to go for investing in a huge way to further strengthen relations between the two countries and create employment opportunities.
