A smart recipe for halwa with leftover sugar syrup
The containers of canned sweets are filled to the brim with sugar syrup. And if throwing away the flavourful syrup breaks your heart like mine, here is a recipe that makes use of the leftover syrup and turns into something even tastier.
Ingredients
- Leftover sugar syrup
- 1 cup semolina
- 2-3 tbsp ghee
- Dry fruits (cashews, almonds, raisins) as needed
- 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
Instruction
Take a pan and roast the semolina with ghee until it has turned golden brown in colour. Add in the sugar syrup and mix well. If the syrup is too thick, add some water to it.
Stir until the semolina mixture has formed into a paste.
Add in the cardamom powder and dry fruits. Turn the heat off and add some ghee to garnishing.
Serve hot with the paratha or chapati for a perfect breakfast.
