New Zealand seal ODI series beating Bangladesh by 5 wickets

New Zealand won the ODI series by beating Bangladesh by five wickets with 10 balls remaining in the second ODI at Christchurch.

Chasing 272-run target, New Zealand scored 275 runs. Bangladesh scored 271 runs losing six wickets in stipulated overs. 

In the first ODI, New Zealand beat Bangladesh by eight wickets with 172 balls to spare.

The third ODI will be held on 26 March at Wellington.

New Zealand's fifth wicket down after Neesham's fall on 45.3 over. They need 19 runs in 23 balls.

New Zealand lost its fourth wicket after Devon Conway's fall on 33.4 over. They need 90 runs in 79 balls.

The hosts have steadied their ships after losing 3 for 53 while chasing 272 posted by Bangladesh. A 50 run partnership between Tom Latham and Devon Conway helped New Zealand reach 103/3. 

Latham scored 30 runs facing 38 balls while Conway scored 37 from 53 balls. 

Mahedi Hasan bagged two wickets for 14 runs and Mustafiz took one conceding 22 runs.

New Zealand lost its third wicket after Will Young's fall on 10.5 over. They now need 219 runs from 39 overs. 

Mahedi picked his second wicket while Mustafiz took one.

New Zealand scored 43 runs while losing two wickets. New Zealand lost its second wicket after Nicholls went for 13. HM Nicholls was bowled after he attempted a wild swipe on the leg side that failed to connect the ball.

An explosive Mohammad Mithun accompanied well by Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad guided Bangladesh to a decent total of 271 for 6 after 50 overs. 

New Zealand will need runs to win the match and seal the series.

Mithun remained unbeaten on 73 off 57 balls with a strike rate of 128.

Earlier, skipper Tamim Iqbal bagged 78 runs to set the momentum of the innings. Soumya and Mushfiq both got a good start but couldn't make it bigger than the 30s. 

Mitchell Santner, though a bit expensive, bagged two important wickets to break two solid partnerships. 

It will be up to the bowlers to defend the total and keep Tigers alive in the series.

Skipper Tamim Iqbal reached his 50th ODI fifty. He held the innings together after the early dismissal of Liton Das. 

He bagged his fifty in 84 balls and then began counterattacking the opponent, especially, left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner.  He is now batting on 71 off 100 balls where he hit 10 boundaries.

Bangladesh slowly but steadily going for a challenging total from here on.

A leg-side stumping and Soumya departs. A length ball pitching outside leg but looks like Soumya had pre-meditated to step out and he simply runs past it as it spins further away.

Soumya is gone when he was just cutting loose, for 32 off 46.

Tigers are finally cutting loose after a shaky start in the second ODI at Christchurch. 

They are 54 for 1 after 15 overs. Skipper Tamim Iqbal could be the last man to go for 34 off 51 but he survived a creversed caught and bowled call. His partner Soumya Sarkar has bagged 16 off 33 so far. 

Liton was the only man to be dismissed early in the innings for a duck.

Bangladesh made one change in their playing eleven as Saifuddin replaces Hasan Mahmud. New Zealand playing with the same team.
