BADC renews Russia deal to import MOP fertiliser
Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) has renewed its agreement with Russia's Prodintorg to import 5.95 lakh tonnes of muriate of potash (MOP) fertiliser in FY2026-27, aiming to ensure timely supply of quality non-urea fertiliser to farmers.
The agreement was renewed between BADC and Prodintorg on 24 May, 2026, at a hotel in the capital.
BADC Chairman Md Azizul Islam signed the agreement on behalf of the corporation.
Agriculture Secretary Dr Rafiqul E Mohammed, along with representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and BADC, was present at the signing ceremony.
Under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, BADC imports non-urea fertilisers from different countries under government-to-government arrangements to support safe agricultural production and ensure timely supply of quality fertiliser to farmers.
As part of this arrangement, BADC has been importing MOP fertiliser from Russia for many years through separate annual agreements under a Letter of Agreement signed with Prodintorg.
The renewed agreement will facilitate the import of 5.95 lakh tonnes of MOP fertiliser from Russia in the next fiscal year.
