Elderly man arrested in Savar after locals beat him up over attempted rape of 7-year-old
A case was filed today by the victim’s family at the police station against the elderly man over attempted rape
Police arrested an elderly man, Abdul Razzak, 69, in Savar over allegations of attempting to rape a 7-year-old girl.
He was arrested last night (21 May) after locals beat and handed him over to the Aminbazar police outpost from a house in the Binodbari area of Aminbazar Union, confirmed Savar Model Police Station OC Arman Ali.
Police said the accused and the victim's family lived in the same house in adjacent rooms.

In the afternoon, Razzak allegedly took the child into his room and attempted to assault her.
Later, locals surrounded his house in the evening.
A case was filed today (22 May) by the victim's family at the police station against the elderly man over attempted rape.
When contacted, Sub-Inspector Zakir Al Ahsan, in-charge of Aminbazar Police Outpost, told The Business Standard that the accused has been produced before the court following his arrest, and the child victim has also been sent to court to record her statement under Section 22.
He added that a remand may be sought later if required for the investigation.
