Standard Chartered, MetLife Bangladesh recognise top bancassurance performers
Standard Chartered Bangladesh and MetLife Bangladesh have jointly recognised outstanding bancassurance performers at the "Bancassurance Champions Night", celebrating the achievements of the bank's top-performing executives.
Standard Chartered Bangladesh has been MetLife's bancassurance partner since 2024. The programme was organised to recognise the success of Standard Chartered's top-performing executives who played a key role in promoting customer-centric insurance solutions.
Congratulating the bancassurance champions, Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bangladesh Naser Ezaz Bijoy said, "Bancassurance enables us to deliver more complete solutions that go beyond financial prosperity to also support our customers' peace of mind and overall health and wellbeing. By bringing protection, savings and health-focused coverage together in one trusted place, our partnership with MetLife offers a truly distinctive proposition in the market. My heartfelt thanks to MetLife Bangladesh for organising this event, for their steadfast partnership, and for recognising the integrity and dedication of our colleagues."
Commenting on the partnership, Chief Executive Officer of MetLife Bangladesh Ala Ahmad said, "Together, MetLife and Standard Chartered Bangladesh bring nearly 200 years of collective experience, combining deep global expertise with a strong local presence to serve customers' diverse financial needs. Bancassurance is a powerful channel for expanding access to protection by making insurance simpler and more convenient for customers through trusted banking partners. By helping customers understand their protection needs and seamlessly integrate insurance into their financial planning, bancassurance empowers families to safeguard their futures with greater confidence and peace of mind."
Bancassurance continues to play an increasingly important role in Bangladesh's financial ecosystem by making insurance more accessible through trusted banking relationships. With insurance penetration in Bangladesh remaining below 1% of GDP, partnerships between banks and insurers are widely recognised as an effective way to increase awareness, convenience and trust in insurance products.
Standard Chartered Bank has been operating in Bangladesh for more than 120 years. As the country's only multinational universal bank, it serves clients across corporate and investment banking, as well as wealth and retail banking, and continues to support Bangladesh's economic growth and financial development through responsible banking practices. The bank is also a pioneer in introducing a number of firsts to the market, including being the first international bank to launch bancassurance in Bangladesh.
As the leading life insurer in Bangladesh, MetLife Bangladesh continues to lead the industry in key business indicators, including claims settlement, premium collection, life fund management, and investments. The company has been recognised by the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority for its overall performance, service quality and governance, reflecting its long-standing commitment to protecting Bangladeshi families and businesses.
Senior leaders from both organisations attended the event. From MetLife Bangladesh, attendees included Chief Executive Officer Ala Ahmad, AMD and Chief Distribution Officer Jafar Sadeque Chowdhury, and Director and Head of Bancassurance Savrina Arifin. From Standard Chartered Bangladesh, Chief Executive Officer Naser Ezaz Bijoy, Head of Wholesale and Retail Banking Lutful Habib, and Head of Priority and Wealth Management Faisal Ul Haque attended the event.
At the event, both organisations reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the bancassurance partnership and achieving greater success in 2026.
