15 more Bangladeshis in Vietnam want to return home

Fifteen more Bangladeshis in Vietnam have urged the Bangladesh government on Wednesday to bring them back to home.

More than 100 distressed Bangladeshis have appealed the same in recent months, claiming that they were cheated by the middlemen and recruiting agencies.   

Vietnam police on Wednesday detained 15 Bangladeshi nationals in Ho Chi Minh City area while they were going to Bangladesh embassy in Hanoi from the camp of a middleman at the Guan Tao area.

Md Razu, one of the 15 victims, has sent a voice record to the Brac Migration Programme.

In the message, he said, "We were going to the embassy on Wednesday morning. But suddenly the police detained us. But the middleman Mostafa rescued us from the police, and we do not know where he is taking us.

"We are afraid. We faced much torture here. Even Mostafa threatened to kill us. We want to return home."

In recent months, hundreds of Bangladeshis claimed that they were not given the proper job and salary promised by the agents. The victims also alleged that although they had worked in different places for some time, they did not get any salary.

Furthermore, the middlemen took their passports soon after reaching Vietnam. Under the circumstances, they want to return in Bangladesh. 

Brac sources revealed that more than 100 Bangladeshis are scheduled to return home on August 18 from Vietnam.
