Charli’s 'Brat' dominates Brit
Popstar Charli XCX has taken the Brit Awards by storm, leading the pack with an impressive five nominations, including the coveted Album of the Year for her genre-defining record Brat. The album, which became a cultural phenomenon and even influenced U.S. politics, cemented its status when it was named Collins Dictionary's 2024 Word of the Year.
The singer-songwriter's hit single Guess, featuring Billie Eilish, secured a nomination for Song of the Year after topping the charts in August. Charli is also in the running for Artist of the Year and Best Pop and Dance Act, solidifying her dominance in the music industry.
Meanwhile, rock legends The Cure have made a historic comeback, earning their first nomination in 30 years with Songs of a Lost World, their first album in 16 years. The Beatles, too, have made a grand return, with Now and Then landing a Song of the Year nod—their first Brit nomination since 1977.
The awards ceremony, hosted by Jack Whitehall, will take place on 1 March at The O2 arena, where Charli XCX is poised to make history.
