TCB sells low-priced sugar, lentils, oil at 27 places in Chattogram

TCB is helping the consumers save up to Tk30 per kg

Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) is selling consumer goods at six Upazilas of Chattogram and 21 places in the city at a low cost.

The current retail price of sugar is Tk65-70 per kg, medium grain lentils Tk80-85 and soybean oil Tk100-105 per litre.

But the TCB is selling per kg sugar at TK50, medium grain lentils at Tk50 and per litre soybean oil at Tk80, allowing consumers to save up to Tk30 per kg.

Aklima Akhter, assistant executive officer of the TCB Chittagong Regional Office, told The Business Standard: "Goods are being sold in 21 trucks at different points of the city."

"Also, six TCB trucks are selling products in Hathazari, Patiya, Boalkhali, Fatikchari, Chandanish, and Mirsarai Upazilas."

"Each truck has been stocking as much as 650 kg sugar, 100 kg lentils and 1,000-litre soybean oil each day. This initiative started to mark the Mujib Year. However, the programme has continued to tackle the challenges caused by Covid-19. And the consumers have to maintain a certain distance in the queue."
