More than enough Ramadan essentials in stock: Commerce Minister
'The products we have in stock are more than enough to meet the demand. There is no possibility of any shortage during the month of Ramadan,' the minister said
The country has enough Ramadan essentials including rice, pulse, oil, chickpeas, onions, garlic and ginger in stock.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi made the remark today while chairing a meeting at the Commerce Ministry's auditorium at the Secretariat.
"The products we have in stock are more than enough to meet the demand. There is no possibility of any shortage during the month of Ramadan," the minister said, adding that stiff measures will be taken against anyone trying to create an artificial shortage.
Tipu Munshi also said that there is no possibility or reason for a price hike during Ramadan. He urged the task forces and committees formed to control the distribution and price of Ramadan essentials to work responsibly.
The minister also said that the Trading Corporation Bangladesh (TCB), under the guidance of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is selling products like Soyabean oil, pulse, sugar, chickpeas and dates at affordable prices all across the country.
