Four onion traders fined Tk1,30,000 for price manipulation

They have listed the selling price of onions at Tk60-65 per kg, however according to their account books, they are selling them at Tk110 per kg

A mobile court has fined four onion traders with Tk1,30,000 thousand for manipulating with onion price in the Khatunganj wholesale market.

Chattogram District Administration Magistrate Mohammad Towhidul Islam along with members of the police and Rapid Action Battalion raided the market on Sunday. 

District administration sources said that the prices displayed in the stores during the operation did not match the prices at which they were being sold. They traders have listed the selling price of onions at Tk60 to Tk65 per kg, however according to their account books, they were selling them at Tk110 per kg. 

Achhi Uddin traders was fined Tk40,000, Khatunganj Trading Tk50,000, Soumik Traders Tk20,000, and Bengal Traders were fined Tk20,000.
