Medical Technologist (Radiology)

Duty Station: Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh

Contract Duration: Initially 10 months (may be extended)

Contract Type: Special Agreement with E-Zone

Contract Start Date: 01 September 2022

A. Objectives:

The overall objective of the programme is to support MOH&FW for strengthening the upazilla health complex capacity to manage TB diagnosis, treatment, and coordination on delivering quality TB services in Cox's Bazar

B. Job Description:

Under the overall guidance of the UN Agency Representative to Bangladesh and direct supervision of the UN Agency Technical Officer, the incumbent will support the activities through carrying out the following duties;

• Operation and maintenance of X-ray machine including other laboratory equipment.
• Maintain essential safety precautions during X-ray procedures.
• Position patients and equipment to capture the image of the requested area and produce clear images
• Calibrate the equipment to ensure clear, usable images are taken of the requested body parts by the clinician.
• Monitor patients and ensure their safety during imaging procedures.
• Log and organize image results, develop film, assist with the interpretation of the radiograph results, and consult with radiologist to determine if other images need to be taken.
• Record results (register, request form) and report as and when required.
• Analyze the X-ray results from the register monthly and quarterly and display the results including positivity rate.
• Coordinate with relevant authorities to plan and assist the implementation of required activities for TB diagnosis.
• Ensure the proper sterilization and storage of the equipment, maintain radiographic equipment, and report any equipment failures.
• Be well versed with the latest knowledge of current radiology practices.
• Submit monthly report and a final draft report to UN Agency Bangladesh.

C. Required Qualifications:

Education:

Required: Diploma or BSc in Medical Technology (Radiology/Imaging) from any recognized university / institution.
Desirable: Training on chest X-ray radiology.

Experience:

Essential: At least 2 years of experience in operating radiologic equipment to capture and develop radiograph films.
Desirable: Working experience on maintenance of radiology equipment, recording and reporting of X-ray taken and radiology supplies inventory..  

Additional Functional Knowledge and Skills:

Essential: Knowledge on standard and procedures of radiology (radiographic positions, radiation safety practices, etc)
Desirable: Knowledge on diagnostics imaging procedures in a resource poor setting.

D. Consultancy Costs:

Monthly salary:  Each Medical Technologist (Radiology) will get BDT 39,394.75 to  BDT 61,052.5 per month (consolidated).

Administrative Issues:

1. Medical Technologist (Radiology)will be responsible to pay all taxes as per government rules and regulations. E-Zone will make statutory deductions towards income tax as per government rules and regulations.
