icddr,b invites applications from suitable candidates for the position of Manager, Knowledge Management for USAID's Alliance for Combating TB in Bangladesh with Programme for Emerging Infections under the Infectious Diseases Division. The appointment will be made on a Fixed Term basis for 1 year which is renewable depending on the performance and availability of funds.
Position description
USAID's Alliance for Combating TB in Bangladesh (ACTB) Activity will develop a dynamic, strategic, and fresh approach to accelerate Bangladesh's fight against TB. The solutions will be aimed at creating an environment aligned with the universal health coverage (UHC) vision and focused on defined priority areas – increased TB detection, decentralized DR-TB management, child TB, expanded prevention and others.
The Manager, Knowledge Management will report to the Senior Manager-Communications, USAID'S ACTB of icddr,b. The position holder will be responsible for demonstrating the field impact to the multitudes. S/He will employ the use of traditional and digital learning approaches to develop and implement innovative, creative, and effective ways to strategically capture, interpret and showcase technical knowledge and best practices to donors, partners and other stakeholders. S/He will identify, package, and disseminate key information to improve existing practices and provide practitioners with the tools for effective program implementation. The Manager, Knowledge Management (KM) will develop communication and knowledge management assets, generate resources, and assist in ongoing content development with the objective of ensuring proper KM activities of USAID's ACTB within the guidelines of icddr,b. The position will be based in Dhaka office. However, there might be frequent travel to all the field sites and field offices in Bangladesh.
Duties and responsibilities
Knowledge Management Operations
- Develop the overall KM strategy;
- Prepare draft plans and tasks for deploying KM strategy;
- Secure approvals from respective offices;
- Execute tasks as planned;
- Coordinate with various internal stakeholders for the deployment of plans;
- Monitor progress of plans, resolve issues and highlight deviations;
- Provide regular status updates and progress reports in order to deploy the KM strategy.
Knowledge Compilation
- Collect KM stories, etc. from activity leads and partners;
- Publish stories into different platforms and forums;
- Operationalize an end-to-end knowledge mobilization strategy that links content development and engagement strategies that facilitate timely, useful delivery of information through project learning platforms and activities;
- Facilitate the transfer of vetted synthesized evidence between content experts (Technical Specialists), data synthesizers (MEAL Specialists), activity leads and knowledge users into day-to-day tools, evidence products and impact communications;
- Manage the creation of updated knowledge products that showcase results and impact, to effectively profile USAID's ACTB and icddr,b, and thus, support resource acquisition opportunities and policy influence that includes case studies, stories, reports, briefing notes, and other externally facing resources.
Knowledge Analysis
- Analyze the nature and type of KM contents to be developed;
- Identify and share more creative, efficient and effective ways to engage audiences and facilitate sharing and collaboration;
- Surface any hidden or unexplored opportunities for KM contents/products;
- Provide an insight (that improves the process) into the utility and efficacy of the KM systems
Knowledge Dissemination and Content Creation
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and partners to find creative ways to publish and disseminate lessons learned;
- Identify and curate contents for diverse audiences and platforms;
- Work with Development and Communications Department to manage and curate social media opportunities such as Facebook posts, twitter handles and blogs to communicate program results and build awareness of the USAID's ACTB to priority stakeholder audiences;
- Document and share learning;
- Develop and disseminate different KM products such as impact stories, capability statements, newsletter, reports, blog stories, etc.;
- Create digital and other relevant contents/products for social media, outreach, other appropriate platforms using design and editing applications.
Required experience and qualifications*
Education:
Master's in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Economics, English, International Relations, Journalism or any other relevant subject.
Experience:
At least 5 years of relevant experience in similar role(s) in an international/multinational organizations, NGOs or development organizations.

- Capacity to deliver knowledge management and/or organizational learning activities;
- Adequate analytical skills and the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, understandable ideas;
- Knowledge of standard design and editing applications such as Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Audition, Adobe Lightroom, etc.
*The person assessed by the Selection Panel as most suitable for the position will be proposed for appointment. Selection among short-listed candidates will also consider performance at interview, appropriate testing, and references.
Salary: Annual Tk. 13,49,070/- inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances and other admissible benefits.

Benefits/facilities: 14.8% provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.1,917/- per child per month, festival bonus, contributory healthcare support including dependent spouse and children, group life insurance and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
