Position: Information Analyst ACAPS Bangladesh Cox's Bazar
Our Ideal Candidate
The Information Analyst is expected to develop independent analysis, engage with stakeholders, support external actors on research design and analysis, support the team on research and analysis design, and design and implement their own research activities. The Information Analyst is also expected to support on the transition to nationalise the team. The Information Analyst will sit within NPM's offices and work collaboratively with NPM and other partners in providing analytical support to their regular work. This includes support on research design, primary data analysis, and secondary data reviews.
Key Task and Responsibilities
Responsibilities
Research and analysis
- In consultation with key stakeholders, identify analysis gaps and propose and design thematic analytical products
- Design, coordinate, and produce research products, both as ACAPS-only and in collaboration with partners
- Support partners in designing primary research and providing analytical support for qualitative and quantitative research
- Continue reviewing assessments, reports, and information products on the Rohingya crisis to understand the information landscape
Information management and support
- Update the tracking systems as required and agreed upon with the Team Leader
- Contribute to the updating of information management tools to improve tracking and impact monitoring
- Maintain the meta-database, ensure it is updated fortnightly
- Train incoming staff on IM processes
Networking and supporting the response
- Maintain close contact with the ISCG, including the IMWG, to ensure buy-in for all products
- Play an active role in the 2021 Joint MSNA process, contributing to methodology development (qualitative and quantitative) and providing analytical support as needed
- Maintain informal "coffee meetings" with key IM actors to facilitate informal analysis sharing
- Represent the Hub at different forums, as required, and help identify local and national networks and support systems for engagement
- Contribute towards learning and innovation within the Hub and the response
- Support the development and maintenance of ACAPS strategic products for Cox's Bazar
- Support ACAPS global on ad hoc products and expertise-sharing
Key Education and Skills Requirements
- Master's degree, preferable in humanitarian action, management, social sciences, international relations, research, or international development.
- Bachelor's degree with an additional 2 years' experience will be accepted instead.
- Five years of experience in the humanitarian sector, of which a minimum of three must be on humanitarian research, preferably in a multi-sector/multi-agency setting
- At least two years of experience working in humanitarian operations in UN or INGO systems
- At least two years of experience in information management
- At least two years of experience in research and analysis design
- Significant experience with both primary and secondary data analysis processes
- Proven ability and experience working with a wide range of data types
- Proven ability to deliver against targets and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in protracted crises
- Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to a rapidly changing environment
- Ability to work in complex and multi-cultural environments
- Excellent drafting skills
- Fluent written and spoken English language skills
- Experience with qualitative data analysis software (NVivo)
- Experience living/working in Bangladesh or the region
- Experience in data visualisation and GIS
