U.S. Embassy Dhaka is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Health Specialist (Influenza Epidemiologist)

Job holder is a public health specialist responsible for managing the collaboration between the agency and host government ministries and other organizations that support influenza and respiratory disease detection, surveillance and rapid response activities. As the primary agency contact with implementing partners for all issues related to agency-supported influenza/respiratory disease program activities, job holder provides epidemiological expertise and program management directed toward the expansion of sentinel surveillance, and the establishment of laboratory support to manage such outbreaks. Job holder closely monitors and evaluates progress of projects, identifies training needs and technical, personnel, logistical, and financial problems and recommends revisions as necessary to overcome obstacles and constraints to progress. This management role requires public health technical leadership, results-oriented analysis, advocacy, and constant and clear communication with host country ministry officials and a wide variety of implementing partners. Job holder represents the country director on influenza/respiratory disease issues at technical, policy and strategic planning meetings, including meetings with the national multi-sector task force.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Mandatory: Doctoral level (DrPH, MD or PhD) degree or host country equivalent in medicine, public health, nursing, laboratory science or epidemiology is required.(You must attach a copy of your degree certificate along with your application form.)
- Three years of mid-to-senior level public health experience in a field related directly to respiratory disease surveillance that involves coordination with an international agency or implementing partner is required.
- Fluent in English and Bangla is required. This may be tested.
