Director, International Programs and Relations - IUB

Position Title : Director, International Programs and Relations
Employment Type : Fixed-term contract
Location : Bashundhara R/A, Dhaka-1212, Bangladesh

Objective: To advise the Vice chancellor on activities, programs and strategies that best contribute to the fulfillment of IUB's commitment to internationalization of campus as a strategic priority.

As Director you will:

• Lead and direct all aspects of IUB's International Programs and Relations
• Lead, direct and coordinate all overseas program activities (that includes inbound and outbound exchange students), faculty affairs (Fulbright/Visiting) and academic support services
• Develop and implement strategies to attract and retain international students and faculty
• Coordinate admissions process of international students and liaise with Admissions Office
• Monitor the documentation and visa application processes of international students and faculty members
• Monitor the academic progress of international students, keep track of visiting/Fulbright faculty members and help them in settling down in Dhaka
• Re-activate existing MOUs with different foreign academic institutions and establish new MOUs (study-abroad, 2+2 programs, joint programs, etc.) per IUB's strategic goals
• Coordinate and be a custodian of all IUB activities that fall under the purview of International Research Networks
• Lead, coordinate, manage and feed data to different ranking agencies for universities
• Oversee the departmental budget and management of expenditures throughout the fiscal year
• Develop and review international strategies for IUB and bring these as recommendations to the Vice Chancellor
• Facilitate the communication of information on international activities and opportunities to the campus community
• Liaise and promote positive and productive relationships between IUB and different foreign counterparts/local high commissions/donor agencies for successful implementation of various international programs
• Assist in identifying guest speakers; participate in student and program-related institutional and/or community events
• Determine potential external institutional funding bodies for submission of grant proposals involving various international programs and other IUB initiatives
• Coordinate and write grant proposals for various international programs and IUB initiatives as assigned by the Vice Chancellor
• Promote and support the participation of IUB faculty, staff and students in international and cross-cultural activities and programs
• Promote internationalization initiatives within the departments and faculties and across the IUB community
• Undertake other duties assigned by the Vice Chancellor

Required Qualifications:

• ✓ Advanced degree preferably from an overseas institution with good academic standing
• ✓ Ability to develop and administer successful international programs and grants, fundraising, and marketing
• ✓ In depth knowledge of issues relating to internationalization of a campus within the context of higher education including international students and scholars, study-abroad, international initiatives and partnerships, student exchange programs, teaching and learning paradigms as applied to international education, and international research funding and collaborations
• ✓ Proven ability to collaborate successfully with a large set of diverse stakeholders
• ✓ Experience in leading, managing and developing professional staff
• ✓ Proven ability to interact effectively with students, parents, faculty, foreign embassies located in Dhaka and other international organizations
