UK parliament resumes sitting after Supreme Court ruling

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to update lawmakers on his reaction to the ruling later in the session
Members of the UK's lower chamber House of Commons resumed sitting on Wednesday (September 25), a day after the Supreme Court ruled that the prime minister's suspension of parliament was unlawful.
The verdict given on Tuesday (September 24) means that the government's attempt to prorogue parliament never took effect. House of Commons speaker John Bercow requested at the beginning of Wednesday's sitting that records be updated to show that parliament was instead adjourned, rather than prorogued, on September 9.
