A pregnant woman with novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) pneumonia has delivered a healthy baby in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province.

The woman was in the 38th week of her pregnancy when she was found to have caught a fever of 37.3 degrees Celsius and tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Thursday, Na Hui, vice president of the No. 6 Hospital of Harbin City in the provincial capital, said Monday at a press conference.

Doctors decided to give her a cesarean section, through which a girl weighing about 3 kg was born on the same day.

The baby tested negative for the novel coronavirus on Friday and Sunday.

The mother's body temperature had returned to normal by Sunday, Na said. Both the mother and the baby are in quarantine, with two special medical teams designated for their observation and treatment.

The hospital did not disclose the mother's name or age.
