‘Exercise caution’: US embassy to its citizens in India on Delhi violence

The US embassy on Wednesday urged its citizens in India to exercise caution in the wake of violence in northeast Delhi, reports Hindustan Times.
"Avoid all areas with demonstrations. It is important that you monitor local media outlets for updates on demonstrations, road and Metro closures, and possible curfews," the US embassy said in its advisory.
Clashes between groups protesting in favour and against the citizenship law broke out in northeast Delhi on Sunday which progressed into full-fledged communal riots.
At least 23 people have been killed so far in the violence since Sunday. More than 250 people were injured after violence broke out in Jafrabad, Maujpur, Chand Bagh and other localities of Northeast Delhi.
The groups were seen roaming on streets with swords and pistols. Houses and vehicles in the area were torched and more than 250 injured in two days of violence.
Earlier today, the chief minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal demanded army deployment in the city to tackle the communal violence seen in the last three days.
"I again appeal to the home minister to call out the army to control the situation in Delhi," Kejriwal said in the assembly.
