The Chaman border crossing will remain shut for seven days

Pakistan said it will close its border with Afghanistan from tomorrow to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The Chaman border crossing will remain shut for seven days, reported Al Jazeera.

"During the period, necessary measures will be taken to safeguard the health of the people of both countries," accoring to an official statement.

Afghanistan has already reported one case of the novel coronavirus, while Pakistan has confirmed four, according to WHO.

The coronavirus, which has killed nearly 3,000 people and infected more than 86,000 in dozens of countries, is believed to have first emerged late last year in a Wuhan market that sold wild animals.

The National Health Commission also reported 573 new infections, bringing the total number of cases in mainland China to 79,824 and taking the toll  to 2,870 till Sunday.
