Number of coronavirus infections globally outpace cases in China

China's National Health Commission reported 16 new confirmed cases and 14 deaths as of Monday

The total death toll from coronavirus has passed 6,500 as global infections outstrip the number of cases confirmed in China.

Number of coronavirus infections outside China have passed 87,000 while cases of the pandemic stand at 80,860 in China, reports the BBC.

China's National Health Commission reported 16 new confirmed cases and 14 deaths as of Monday. Of the infected, more than 67,00 patients have recovered.

The outbreak of the virus began in Wuhan, China. However as the day pass, number of those infected have decreased in China.

This has been attributed largely to the lockdown by the Chinese government to tackle the virus
