8% of Iran's MPs infected with coronavirus

At least 23 members of the 290-member Iranian parliament have tested positive for the novel coronavirus which accounts for 8% of the total members of parliament.

The information was disclosed by the Deputy Parliament Speaker Abdul Reza Misri, reported CNN.

Misri was reading an open letter to the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei at the parliament where MPs were also ordered to refrain public contacts to avoid further spread of the disease.

Iran has the highest number of deaths from coronavirus after China, according to a report from the news agency of Iran.

"Don't violate the recommendations and instructions of the responsible authorities in terms of prevention, in terms of keeping hands, face and living environment clean and not infecting these and preventing the infection of these," earlier on Tuesday, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said.

He gave this statement after the death of a top official because of novel coronavirus.
