She made the remark in her parliament speech quoting a recent statistics on Tuesday.
When Merkel disclosed the statistics in the parliamentary meeting, the whole room fell silent, reports Business Insider.
Markel also warned the lawmakers telling that events and public gathering should be cancelled depending on the intensity of the outbreak. It can go to the extent of cancelling parliamentary sessions.
As of now, Germany has more than 1,400 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
