3 more patients diagnosed with coronavirus in Bangladesh: IEDCR

Three more patients, including two children and a woman, have been found infected with the novel coronavirus in Bangladesh.

The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) Director Professor Dr Meerjady Sabrina Flora made the disclosure in a briefing today.

"They are family members of an expatriate, who was diagnosed with coronavirus earlier in the country," she added.

"There is no need to visit the IEDCR office to give samples as the virus can spread through the infected people. IEDCR team will collect samples from home after notifying via hotline numbers," Dr Meerjady Sabrina Flora said in the briefing.

IEDCR also advised the elderly and sick people to stay home as they are at high risk of coronavirus infection and to suspend all the rallies that includes public gatherings to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Besides, four are still in institutional quarantine people while 10 are isolated at different government hospitals, according to the IEDCR.

With them, so far eight Bangladeshis have been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus, which believed to be started spreading from China. Three of them have been completely cured and discharged from hospital, and two are in good condition.

About 169,000 people around the world have been infected with the deadly virus and 6,512 deaths were reportedly globally till date.
